About the event
The Queen: a practical guide to the role of the Queen in your beehive.
Come along and learn more about Queens. She is the most important bee in your beehive, and the vigour of your colony can rise and fall on the quality of your Queen.
You will learn the answers to:
- How healthy is my Queen?
- What are the signs that my Queen needs replacing?
- How to re-Queen my hive?
- How to remove the old Queen and install a new Queen?
- What follow-up is needed to monitor success?
The session will be lead by Phil Marshall, the beekeeper’s coach. Phil is a commercial beekeeper and queen breeder who started with one beehive in the backyard.
Phil has a Certificate III in Beekeeping from Tocal Agricultural College in NSW.
